Spicy Candied Pecans
You decide how much of a kick you want in this quick and easy recipe!
2 cups pecan halves
1 tablespoon butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ to ¾ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1½ tablespoons real maple syrup
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Equipment: Baking sheet and parchment paper
Natural gas stovetop and oven
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Butter the baking sheet, line it with parchment paper, and butter the paper.
Spread the pecans on the baking sheet and toast them in the oven about 8 minutes, stirring twice. Roast only until fragrant; watch to be sure they don’t scorch.
While the pecans are roasting, melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Stir in the remaining ingredients until well mixed and the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the stovetop and add the hot pecans. Stir until the pecans are evenly coated and spread them out on the lined baking sheet.
Bake for 8-9 minutes, stirring twice. Remove the pan from the oven and let the pecans cool completely in the pan.
