Family Style Shrimp Boil
Picture a late summer afternoon with family or friends sitting around a picnic table, sharing this easy-to-fix feast, talking away into the sunset hour. That’s slow food Gulf Breeze Natural Gas-style!
5 pounds red potatoes, washed
3 Vidalia onions, cut into quarters
1 packet shrimp/crab boil seasoning
2 pounds kielbasa, cut into 2″ pieces
6 ears fresh corn, shucked and cut in thirds
3 pounds fresh shrimp with shells (31-35 to the pound)
Cocktail sauce
Melted butter
Lemons, cut in wedges
Salt and pepper
Equipment: Large deep pot
Natural gas stovetop
Fill the pot halfway with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Add the potatoes and onions, bring back to a boil, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
Add the kielbasa, seasoning packet, and corn; boil 10 minutes.
Add the shrimp and turn off the heat. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not overcook!
Drain the water or empty the pot into a large colander. Discard the seasoning packet.
Spread newspaper or a disposable tablecloth over a picnic table. Set the lemon wedges, bowls of butter, and cocktail sauce around the table. Dig in and enjoy!
