Brownie Surprises

We don’t always need to start from scratch to create yummy-licious dishes. Give this recipe a try and you’ll see what we mean!

1 egg at room temperature
¼ cup water
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 box Ghirardelli brownie mix
1 cup Rolo caramel candies (minis or regular size cut in half)
5-6 ounces Ghirardelli chocolate chips

Equipment: Natural gas oven
8 x 8 baking pan

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Lightly butter the baking pan and dust with flour.

Mix together the egg, water, and oil until well blended. Empty the pouch of brownie mix into the egg mixture and mix just until blended. Fold in the Rolo candies and pour the mixture into the baking pan.

Bake for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out almost clean. Be sure not to overbake. Remove from the oven and pour the chocolate chips evenly over the hot brownies.

Let cool completely before serving. Espresso was made to go with a dessert like this!
